How it's Made
Pure silk. Thousands of knots. Zero machines.
The Design
Before weaving begins, every rug starts with a detailed design, either drawn from centuries-old Azerbaijani motifs or created as custom artwork. The pattern is transferred onto a grid the weavers can follow knot-by-knot.

The Loom Setup
A custom loom frame is built to match the rug's exact dimensions. Dozens of strong warp threads are vertically stretched across the frame. These threads form the foundations the knots will anchor to the tighter and more precise the setup, the finer the detail the rug can achieve.
Colour Preparation
Every colour is pre-selected before weaving starts. Bundles of hand-dyed silk threads are organised by shade and tone. The weaver keeps these next to them, switching between colours as they follow the design.
Knot-by-knot Weaving
Beginning at the bottom of the loom, the weaver ties each knot individually by hand, using a small blade to cut and tighten every thread. Progress is slow and intensely focused. Depending on the size and detail, the process can take months, sometimes even over a year.
Trimming & Finishing
Once the final row is reached, the rug is cut from the loom and trimmed for consistency. Edges are secured, patterns are sharpened, and the pile is levelled by hand. The rug is then washed, brushed, dried, and inspected to ensure it meets the highest standards.
The Final Piece
The finished rug is a one-of-a-kind artwork, which took time, skill, and precision. Every millimetre reflects hours of focus and decades of experience, something no machine can imitate.
